Why can't I access certain features of the web site?

If when accessing certain areas of the SAA web site, such as Alumni e-mail and the Alumni Directory, you receive the following error message: "You are logged in, but do not have access to the page or service you selected," please see below.

STEP-BY-STEP SOLUTION

Only alumni of Stanford University, as defined by the completion of at least three academic quarters in a degree-granting program at Stanford, are eligible to access certain restricted features of our web service offerings. However, anyone is welcome to create an account.

Your account is tied to your Stanford University Identification (SUID)number. The SUID number is tied to your Stanford record in our database, where you are coded as an alumnus, a current student, a parent, a spouse, a domestic partner, a child, a donor, a faculty member, a staff member, or whatever relevant affiliation you maintain with the University. This will determine your particular level of access.

We are continually adding new service offerings. Currently, there are several key areas available to those with non-alumni privileges on the web site, including:

  • Join a club online, or renew an existing club membership
  • Register for an event online
  • Participate in the Stanford Reads program
  • Read the @Stanford Newsletter online
  • Read the Stanford Magazine online

Non-alumni users are encouraged to create an online account. If you believe the current level of access you possess is incorrect, please contact Customer Service.
